LGBTQIA+ & Eating Disorders
Cheers Queers!First of all….you are not alone. The Trevor Project reports that up to 54% of sexual and gender minority youth may experience eating disorders or disordered eating behaviors in their lifetime.
Navigating gender, intersecting identities, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, the constant attack on the LGBTQIA+ community, and navigating everyday life as a queer person is not always easy. Finding spaces to talk about it is even harder.
I’m here to help you navigate all of this within the container of a safe space. Maybe you aren’t sure if you have an eating disorder. Maybe you are doing anything you can to give yourself a sense of safety in your body. Maybe you feel like “if I looked like (this) I’d belong.” I’m not here to tell you anything about who you are or aren’t or what safety looks like for you- however, I am here to help you sort it out and see the driving beliefs and ideas you have about yourself underneath it all.
I approach therapy with kindness, curiosity, and humor. I can be direct, and I ask for permission first. If you are curious at all about starting therapy, reach out and see if we might be a good fit.
Don’t have an eating disorder, but want a safe place to explore anxiety, depression, trauma with a body-sensitive provider? That’s me too!
If you’ve made it this deep into my website- there’s probably a part of you that wants to be here!
